Welcome to Picadilly & Company

Picadilly & Company, creating home decor knick knacks one party at a time. We provide you and your guests a fun evening creating a home decor items while in your home. It's a great venue for a Girls Night Out, family get together, etc. However, before we can create them in your home, I create them for my home. And there are some things I do, that I just cannot bring to someone's home. So, check out what I'm working on, maybe it will inspire you. To visit the company website, go to http://www.picadillyandcompany.com/
Currently I am preparing for our holiday homes tour. I will begin decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. In the meantime I am creating different projects to decorate with. So, the ideas I am sharing do not show the final stage often due to that. In December I will post pictures of the final outcome. Thanks for stopping by. And please, check out the website above!

I'm all Googlied Eyed

I found this little project on Pinterest.com My new favorite addiction. I love finding ideas on there. It was originally posted on this blog: adiamondinthestuff.blogspot.com When I saw it, I thought "Perfect. I have everything I need."
Here's a picture of the main supplies:

I was hoping to use up all my googley eyes, and I did, but unfortunately, needed more. I think that a full package is enough. And I noticed that the Dollar Tree sells a package (for $1) and they are assorted sizes, which I think will turn out better.
I used wood glue, and it worked great.
Once the frame was googled with eyes...I added a couple of Halloween messages and done. Very simple and fun. Kids would have fun doing this too.

Autumn Reflection

Autumn is right around the corner! So excited. I haven't dug out all my fall decorations yet. Trying to hold off for the weekend. However, I decided to get a little crafty with the upcoming season.
My supplies were rather simple.
Round mirror
Round chipboard
Paint
Ribbon
E6000 glue
Vinyl Lettering

The first stop is drilling holes around the circle to weave the ribbon through. Finding the center of the circle can be tough and then spacing the holes evenly apart is even tougher. Unless you use a template. So, I made a simple circle with dividing lines in Word.

When drilling through this thin wood chip board, you cannot use too much pressure or use too big of drill bit. It will make the wood chip or break. So, I used three different drill bits, starting with the smalled and working up towards the biggest. It sounds time consuming, but it really isn't once you have drilled all the small holes first.

Once all the holes were drilled, I lightly sanded the edges and around the holes. I then painted the wooden circle. After I painted the wooden circle, I used E6000 glue to glue the mirror to the wooden circle.

I let the glue dry so the mirrow wouldn't slide out of place.
I didn't weave the ribbon, I just pushed the ribbon in each whole. The ribbon was wide enough and the hole small enough to keep it in place.
I then used vinyl lettering for 'autumn'. It is easily removeable and I can use different words, or use at a base of a large candle on a table.
Simple. Just the way I like it. Thanks for stopping by!

Mini Magnet Board

I'm searching for a simple project to do with a large group through Picadilly and Company. I am experimenting with a few different ideas. This one I used a simple silver tray I found at the Dollar Tree. If you are REALLY crafty, you can figure it out. Sorry, no tutorial to go along with it at this time.
Thanks for stopping by! And thank you to my husband & son for the sunflowers! A highlight of autumn in the midwest!

Rules! Rules! Rules!

There are things that every parent wants their children to know. Sometimes when I speak, I am certain my children hear me as the Charlie Brown teacher.
Subway signs are a trendy decor item right now. Shouting out popular messages such as 'Stay Calm and Carry On'. Good advice. However, I wanted my children have something like a 2 x 4 to remember what I want them to know. And since I know that opening the Bible takes some effort, I thought a large cabinet door hung in the middle of our house that we pass 100's of times a day, might just be the ticket. So, I started with this cabinet door:

I wanted a distressed look, so I painted it black, wiping off excess paint and applying my favorite antiquing gel.

I then used my Cricut and began cutting all of my words of wisdom out of vinyl. This took a really long time. If you don't want to spend too much time on this, get a smaller board. Or, learn how to keep your lecture, I mean wisdom, brief and to the point. When applying the vinyl, it helps to use transfer paper, so they say. But, that would take me actually getting to the store and purchasing it. And when I am ready to do a project, sometimes I think I can do it with out the 'proper' tools. And I did. However, I did find that using this handy Post-It tape that is repositionable helped keep things straight.

And here it is...all of our words of wisdom. Or the things that I hear Bill and I repeating ourselves, over and over again. Now we can say, 'Please read the family rules, and get back with me.'

I know it has worked when I hear them in 20 years saying the same things to their children...revenge...he he he!
