Goody Bag with a Twist

I saw this little goody bag on Pinterest and wanted to make them for my daughters birthday. I didn't get to it, so I decided that the star crayons we made would fit nicely in the bags for Christmas. The star crayon how-to was posted yesterday. First I made a simple design and printed them as if I were making two verticle cards. I printed them on a cardstock. I put the words and the graphic closer to the top than the bottom due to the shape of the final product.
I folded the paper in half vertically and then cut the two in half.
I then sewed on the two sides and the top side. I used my presser foot as my guide and moved my needle to the right to make the stitch line close to the edge. At the beginning and end of each side I secured the stitches with forward/backward stitching. It is easier with paper for stitches to unravel and found this to be necessary. Also when sewing on paper I need to push the paper through a bit. The 'feet' under the presser foot cannot push paper along as easily as fabric.
Once all three sides are sewn I put the gift inside. In this case it was the star crayons my daughter and I made. The final step is to sew the bottom closed. To do this, press the two bottom side seams together and then sew the bottom closed.
If you'd like you can punch a hole in the top and hang from the Christmas Tree.I think this would be fun to do for many occassions. You could use paperbags or cards. I found this idea originally throug Pinterest at this link: http://www.diywedding.org/diy-wedding-ideas/free-downloads/diy-wedding-favor-bags-with-a-twist
