True Love Was Born in a Stable

My friend Sheri taught me how to make these cute little chalkboards. For the fall we made pumpkins and crows. For Christmas a large group of us got together and made stockings, Christmas trees, stars and stables. To make you use a 1/4" thin wood board. I believe it is birch, not sure. We created templates from chipboards and then traced them onto the wooden board. A friend's incredible husband and son, then cut all of them out using a band saw. I believe you can use a scroll saw also, but not I am not too educated in the use of saws. For good reason.
For these we used black flat enamel paint. You paint 3 THIN coats, drying in between each coat.
Allow the paint to cure for three days. Then as with all the chalkboard projects, you rub with the side of chalk.
These are cute displays for holiday messages, the menu for the day, or notes to one another. This would be fun to do also with small wooden cut-outs from the craft stores to make gift nametags with. Promise, last chalkboard craft for the month.
